Starting our first day - flying to Lahad Datu

After a brief 7 hour stay in our hotel, we're back at the airport for our 6am flight to Lahad Datu to start our jungle adventures.  We stayed at the Klagen hotel which seemed very nice. It was just off the Kota Kinabalu waterfront and from our 10th floor window we had a nice view of the water. Unfortunately since we were only there 9pm -4am, we didn't get to see it in daylight. But at checkout they did pack us a little breakfast for the road.

I woke up in the night full of excitement for our stay at the Tabin Wildlife resort. We'll be staying in a river side chalet so I hope to see animals as they get a drink from the river. I was reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and everyone raved about this place with the exception of this one couple that traveled there with their 70 year old parents. Apparently they found the walk too slippery and the Jeep night safari too bumpy. Maybe it wasn't the right expedition for them. But as for us - jungle trekking, waterfall swimming, canopy walks and night safaris, here we come!
