I've been in Vienna now for about a week and my favorite place is Schwedenplatz. It's by the canal and is accessible by U1 and U2 and ringstrasse trams. It's not super touristy. There's sausage places (where I got the kaserkrainer), kebab places, Chinese places and lots of ice cream. My favorites however are the cafes on either aside of the canal. There are the simulated beaches on the north side and the cruiseship-like Motto am Fluss which has a cafe (where I am now), restaurant and bar. it's super relaxing and you can sit and soak in the sun, people watch, and enjoy a snack.
