Newfoundland Day 1

We arrived after 11pm so there was nothing to see. 

But in the morning we awoke to this. 

It was a beautiful view of the Witless Estruary Islands. It was great. I saw lots of gulls being gulls. But then...I looked more closely in the water and on the rocks. Thousands of Puffins! I took some pictures and then we saw whales! 

This was all before we went on a whale and puffin tour (Gatherall 's) where we saw 10's of thousands of puffins and other birds, minke whales, humpbacks, and dolphins! All before noon today!

Newfoundland Arrival Day

We were supposed to fly through Montreal to St John's in Newfoundland and arrive around 5pm. However, en route to the airport, we were notified that the first flight was delayed by 45min. That was going to make it impossible to make the second flight and the last flight out to St John's would arrive at 00:30, not ideal. Therefore, I called Air Canada ( why is it always air Canada? This happened on a flight to France in 2017) and waited on hold for 30min. Finally, I got someone and was able to reroute through Toronto and get into St John's 9:40pm - not as good as 5pm but much better than after midnight. There were many hours spent in the airport but fortunately there were lounges we could hang out in. 

Picking up the luggage and the car at st John's was a pleasure - fast and simple! We made a pit stop at a gas station for some drinks and sandwiches and were on our way to the Cliff Edge Retreat. The place seemed nice and clean and we went to bed. 

All in all, the trip was salvaged. That original delayed flight didn't fly until after 3pm!!
