Today we drove from Seydisfjordur to Myvatn. This requires 2 mountain passes - between Seydisfjordur and Egilsstaðir (which we crossed the day prior) and then another one before descending into the valley where Myvatn was. both sections of road were labelled blue on the map for "spots of ice". This is what it looked like:
A stop at Stuðlagil Canyon - lined with basalt columns from the flow of lava downwards leaving the hexagonal shapes behind. The water can be turquoise blue but not today with all the rain/snow.
Crossing the second mountain pass:
Arriving near Myvatn - here is the Námafjall geothermal area (and it smells it too)
Since it was still raining, we decided it was a good day to visit the Myvatn Natural baths - water heated by the natural geothermal energy.
The geothermal plant
Finally we arrived at Vogafjos Guesthouse/Farm where they have their own cows and sheep
